Welcome to the social photography website of Ian Wright BA (Hons) ARPS (Associate of the Royal Photographic Society) and Kitty Wright BA (Hons) - a husband-and-wife photography partnership. We are also travel and documentary photographers, working both for the travel industry, NGOs and charities and on freelance projects. This wider experience greatly influences our documentary style of wedding photography. We have around 6,000 unique visitors a month to both our wedding and travel (www.ianwrighttravel.co.uk) sites.

We are dedicated to the fulfilment of the three major criteria a bride and groom should expect from their wedding photographers: quality of product - both technical and creative; the social skills to work quickly and contribute to the sense of occasion and value for money.

Our Noticeboard section lists our Availability for 2009 - we are photographing just 25 weddings in 2009 and as of early December 2008 there are just 6 bookings available. A Gallery slideshow displays a cross-section of images and individual galleries include a general Portfolio, a Reportage collection and illustrations of black and white images. The Wedding Highlights section picks out 30 images from a number of recent weddings and is a quick way to assess the range and style of our photography. Comprehensive wedding image collections (generally with over 400 and often over 500 different images) reflecting a full calendar year can be seen in Recent Weddings (currently over 50 weddings and nearly 25,000 images).

We are based in Exeter and predominantly photograph weddings in Devon and the neighbouring South West counties. We photograph weddings right across the range - Church and Cathedral weddings, hotels, marquues, manor houses; couples in every decade of life; the most formal weddings to the most casual. We photograph around 40 weddings each year in the seven months of April-October. Even on our travels, we can't resist photographing local weddings - most recently in Hong Kong and Cuba.

Ian's images of Nepal saw him awarded an Associateship of the Royal Photographic Society in September 2006 and we photographed in Cuba for a month in January and February 2007. Ten Key Features of Our Photography (Or Why Choose Us?)

Two Experienced Photographers for complete coverage We have photographed over 250 weddings since 2000 and we capture the complete picture of your wedding day - formal and informal and from different angles and perspectives. As former teachers we also bring some important social, organisational and 'crowd-control' skills to the wedding day! See Recent Weddings for our 40 plus wedding commissions in 2007. The fact that we are also travel and documentary photographers gives our wedding photography an extra dimension.
Combining the Traditional and Contemporary Our approach is to produce both fly-on-the-wall images that tell the story of the wedding day and 'images of record' (groups and portraits). The styles merge because we try and make our group shots relaxed and informal and use them as a platform for natural shots. With a background in travel and 'street photography' we would summarise our style and approach as 'documentary stills' - we tell the story of the day as a documentary film would and so we have sequences of images (for example) of the bride preparing or of the ceremony and we try to capture the atmosphere, the context and the personalities who are essential aspects of the wedding day. Great Choice and Flexibility For the bride and groom, their families and friends our 'building block' system of package construction offers a great deal more than the usual 2 or 3 options offered by many photographers - we think that our clients can cope with choice!! . Digital Masters One of the distinctive features of our photography is the extent of our coverage - this is because we aim to provide not only the bride and groom but both their families with a collection of prints, albums and contemporary methods of keeping and displaying images (like DVD slideshows). We commonly take more than 1,000 images on the wedding day and the Digital Masters (and copyright) are the starting point of most packages. It is still rare for photographers to do this and brings great added-value to our packages. See Additional Items
Contemporary Technology We use the most advanced digital SLRs and our DVD slideshow 'albums' are a terrific way to show your wedding record to friends and family. We also produce a range of wedding books or magazine-style albums (soft and hardback) which are an extremely attractive way to display the essence of your wedding day. A Website that adds an extra dimension to your wedding photography collection Your wedding images appear on our site for easy display to guests and friends and it will stay there on-line. After a year in the Recent Weddings section, it will transfer to the Archive. Choosing and ordering prints and other items could not be easier.
Extensive Preparations for each wedding and Attention to Detail at all stages This includes the time we spend on consultation, our attendance at the rehearsal and/or site visits to the venue and the extent of our commitment to you on the day itself. Your images are usually edited and put on-line within a week of the wedding. Your collection of images is carefully selected, with each image being individually edited. The creative process includes the production of montages and composite images, special edges, black and white images and so on. Album design and creation is a collaborative partnership.
